Today, I met up with Eric Bollman to document the beginnng of his 24 hour day living as if he was homeless. You may know him as Eric the Intern from the Doc and Woody show on CHEZ 106. This will be the seventh year Eric has participated in this fundraiser to raise awareness to prevent homeless youths from becoming homeless adults. I also got a chance to meet some of the other participants to help raise awareness, including some of the volunteers at Operation Come Home. This fundraiser started at 4pm and will end tomorrow at 4pm, so please go support them by walking by in the Byward Market in front of Highlander Pub.
Alaskan
I got a chance to hang out with Alaskan at their jam space over the weekend. They are some pretty hilarious guys, and I had a good time photographing them. I first learned of them in the summer when we played a mutual show together, also at the Flora house party. They are a pretty rad band, and you can check out their music here. I believe this is my first band promo type shoot, and I must say I really liked doing it. Thanks again Alaskan for letting me do this.
KOSMOGRAD
I have been delaying this post for a very long time, but since they have a show coming up I figured it was time to do it. I played a show with Kosmograd last summer at a house party at Flora street. They ROCKed! It was hot as hell that day and everyone was stuffed in this tiny basement sharing blood and sweat. It was a real good time despite this faulty staircase that caused many to fall including my friend Kevin and his poor back. Their next show is January 27 at Bovine Sex Club in Toronto. Check out their music from the link!
Rev. Ernie Cox Band & Choir
I was invited by the Cox family to photograph one of the concert nights at the NAC Studio Hall. It was some amazing gospel music but terrible terrible lighting for photographers. The 15-voice choir featured the London Trio Plus and local and legendary blues/jazz singer Andrea Karam. The horn section was lead by saxophone musician Michael Webster from New York City. Even though it was not my style of music, I thoroughly enjoyed the music that night and was clapping along even with my camera. Reverend Ernie Cox is a very talented musician and more information and samples of his music can be found on his website.
Mr. Hum
On Christmas, one of my photo enthusiast relatives brought over all his camera gear to take some pictures for fun. I would say equivalent to 20k. Needless to say, I immediately started drooling and playing with his gear because a lot of it was stuff I can't afford. For instance, the Elinchrom Quadra RX kit, the Einchrom Ranger RX kit, and all the studio fixings you can think off. So after awhile, when he was done shooting the family, I decided that I would try to use this expensive equipment. I inserted Heidi for some shots, and this is when Mr. Hum (my brother-in-law) started to put on boxing gloves and stepped into the line of fire. I think he also had many beers because his face was really red. Personally, I think this equipement had too much power even dialed fully down for my style. I prefer strobes cause they are smaller and less combersome. But Rangers would be nice for that over powering the sun look.

Julian Dunn's retirement
Last Wednesday we celebrated Julian's career with a luncheon at the Hilton. He is retiring from the Public Service to retreat into an amazing home somewhere in the middle of the woods. I was asked to photograph this event and since I've always gotten along with Julian, I agreed. Here are some of my favourites below. To see all the photos click here.
